Lorena Beas Secall is a PhD in Geography at the University Rovira i Virgili (2009). She is currently associate professor of the Faculty of Tourism and Geography and consultant to the UOC. Her research concentrates on restructuring processes in coastal areas, tourism policies, planning and management of coastal tourist destinations. Among her most relevant publications are her papers Los planes de excelencia turística como objeto de estudio. Una propuesta metodológica de evaluación “(2009), Effects of the implementation of tourism excellence plans (1992-2006) in Spain. The case of the Catalan coast” (2011) and “Los planes de excelencia turística en España (1992-2006). Una apuesta por la revitalización de los destinos. Revisión de su implantación e impactos” (2012).
