Estela Mariné Roig is a PhD  in Tourism and Leisure at the Rovira i Virgili University (Tarragona, Catalonia).  She holds a tourism degree, a B.A. in humanities and an M.Sc. in tourism management. Her research interests include the analysis of image and identity of tourist destinations, the study of the differences and links between projected and perceived images, the analysis of online and secondary image sources (e.g. web 2.0, travel blogs and reviews and Official Tourism Websites), the evolution of tourist image and identity. Among her more recent publications are: “Los “Travel Blogs” como objetos de estudio de la imagen percibida de un destino” (2010), “The image and identity of the Catalan coast as a tourist destination in twentieth-century tourist guidebooks” (2011), “Innovation and identity in Barcelona’s tourist image as represented by souvenirs” (2011).
